Content writing

My copywriting experience involves writing articles for the iGaming industry covering topics such as sport, music, culture, film and travel. This also involves writing on-site content for iGaming companies.

I also edit and operate germanfootball.co.uk, a German football website featuring in-depth articles on the Bundesliga, the German national team and the lower leagues of German football.

Blog posts

You can gain an impression of my writing style from my blog posts "Reflections on Translation" which cover aspects of the translation process and the translation industry, literature and journalism.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

Translation often requires creative writing. This can involve the creation of a headline in the translation of a German magazine article or a marketing text to encourage tourists to visit a region of Germany. This is particularly the case with website texts which require SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). In such cases I use my experience as an NCTJ-certifed journalist to create content which is adapted to the English market.

I have translated blog posts and product descriptions using SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) for Saxoprint. The aim was to increase the quality and quantity of website traffic to the Saxoprint website.

Book translation

I translated "Experiencing Project Management", a book containing the experiences of twenty five Siemens project managers. This 50,000 word translation task involved the creative translation of the original German texts.

Marketing

I have worked on a variety of marketing texts for the Thuringia Tourist Board. This involves the creative translation of texts for tourist attractions, hotels and historical sites.

Literary translation

My creative writing work for Mortimer English involves proofreading stories aimed at children. Furthermore, I have experience of literary translation, a translation of "Die Geschichte von der 1002. Nacht" - "The Tale of the 1002nd Night" by Joseph Roth for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
